Thermometer

He can build raging fires from afar

Staying clear of any danger.

His kind of danger is closeness

Though he does like to tease of it

You’ll never

Ever

Have to worry about it happening.

He is a firestarter

Like an arsonist

Whispering everything you’ve never heard

Telling you how wonderful you are

How you ‘fit’ right into his life

How lucky he is to have you.

He is not a creator

He is a destroyer

Of minds

Hearts

And he hopes,

Souls.

He turns up the heat

Because he is cold

Never realizing

It never gets warmer for him

Just for you.

He will build you up

As high as he can possibly build

Just to watch you fall

From grace.

It isn’t him that is broken

It is

His thermometer.
