The Decision

Silence rapes the atmosphere

Then begs for your forgiveness

The sudden urgency to cry is lost

Yet depression gets its prize.

Held a candle to a tree once

Then listened for it beg for my mercy.

Such a silly thing mercy is

Only given when people are watching.

Two are hanging from a cliff;

One you professed your love to a year ago

Another much more recent.

Which of them do you save?

The recent love

So you can find out if it is true?

Or the old one

Because as she is clamoring for life

She is swearing on everything holy

She loves you.

Neither;

As in your distraction

And inability to decide

They both have let go

Neither of them wanting to know

Really

What your decision would be.
