Incidental

When the wind howls past buildings

Something is picked up

Thrown into a building

The damage is inconsequential.

The storm is to blame

Named and cursed.

When war ravages a city

Because a country

High on its laurels

Phantom money in a bank

That doesn’t exist.

Scores of lives are lost

Homes are ruined

Then the high and mighty leave

This country to pick itself up

Dust off

And hope they never return.

Those people will come to dislike

The country that ruined theirs.

But they are poor

Homeless

War ravaged,

So therefore,

Incidental.
