Temptation of the Feast

A little left of a broken smile

Inside a dusty house.

Crying tears we know will stain the deck

Yet quiet, as a mouse.

Silent tears at screaming tantrums

Waiting for the next wave to show.

We didn’t mind the circumstance

Just absolutely hated the show.

Lit a fire for all those lost

To the temptation of the feast

Forgot about the disdain for a moment

Which took us back, at least.

Empty are the hallways

Littered with the past

She wanted to be the only one

But didn’t even end up being last.
