The Beauty in Darkness

Clouds form in angry haste

What we said, all in waste.

Nothing held true to who we were

But we held tight, just to be sure.

Life took its ultimate revenge

When laid on paths of subservience.

Frightful are those that hide at night

Always seeming illusive, nowhere in sight.

Now we forge ahead in fear

Holding on to what we hold dear.

Crying never took our pain away

When we found out we were just a game to play.

Shining stars through endless darkness

Beauty only fading within us.

Some ask the question if we rule with pride

I wanted to answer, but they all lied.

We are trapped here in the absence of light

Perpetual darkness, perpetual night.
