Too Late

The moment you realize you love him

Years too late;

After he has married

Had children

Living happily in his home

With his family.

You’re too late.

The instant you realize it’s a robbery

A woman lays bleeding on the floor

And you remember

Right then

That you have a gun in your purse.

You’re too late.

The apology

You ran halfway through town

To give,

Only to find out

She’s moved on

With another man,

And she loves him.

You’re too late.

Screams heard in the distance

You stand there in shock

Thinking of whether you should run away

Or run towards the screaming.

By the time you figure it out

It has stopped.

You’re too late.

As you sat at your computer

Wondering if you could toy with her

One last time

I can tell you

You’re too late.
