He Took the Air Out of the Room

He took the life I thought was mine

Ripped it out of my hand.

Spotted truth on the other side

Yet didn’t know where to land.

He took the air right of the room

Punished for another crime.

It wasn’t that I did anything

It was that he didn’t have a dime.

He took the atmosphere so delicately

Yet was so harsh to the rest.

He was mediocre in most everything

Certainly wasn’t the best.

Heaven took the madness

Swore I’d shed only one tear

I kept that promise to myself

It just lasted over a year.
