Through the eyes of a child I saw hate;
The kind that children should never see.
They hated where I came from,
But in reality, hated me.
Through the eyes of an adolescent I saw confusion
Why nobody came to my aid.
Memories of a child forgotten
Thank fuck those memories fade.
Through the eyes of an adult I saw redemption
In death and lives unfulfilled.
Wrangled in a past I hated
Yesterday, I killed.

Two women stand in a ring
With a lion released into it
He, can only save one
Or just save himself.
One he has loved a long time
She’s the reason he fights
The reason he feels so strong
She can build him up
To make him feel invincible.
The other is new
She makes him feel alive
Makes him want to wake up in the morning
Makes every day a little more bearable.
He stands in the ring looking back and forth
Which does he save from death?
For the only thing having two women taught him
Was that there is always another woman
He can have
So why save these two?

He says he whispers to me in the darkness
But he doesn’t remember what he said.
His life is a blur of necessity
He can’t get me out of his head.
Love comes in little pieces
With every part of me he sees.
He looks at every one intently
They are beautiful, he believes.
I’m a moment in his life he remembers
The love, heartfelt and true.
From the second we met

From the minute she was able to
She withdrew the feelings of concern.
Everything to a back seat
To the stars and heaven above.
From the moment freedom came to her
She was able to discern
Right wrong, or indifferrent
Sang very different tunes
To a lady acutely aware
Of the outcome.
